We are delighted that your child is in our class this year. With your encouragement, your child will be a part of many exciting and rewarding experiences this academic year.
Below you will find some important information that your child needs to know to make the third grade year a success.
Working together, all of us can ensure your child will receive the most positive educational climate possible. Below are some rules for all third graders:
1. Respect all people 2. Listen and follow directions 3. Complete all assignments neatly and on time 4. Raise your hand to speak 5. Be quiet in the hallways, lines, classrooms, and restroom 6. ALWAYS DO YOUR BEST!!!
All students need an agenda to write down nightly homework. Students are responsible for writing down homework, completing the work, and returning it on the day it is due. If homework is not completed the student will get a blue ticket Students are not allowed to call home for homework. Please make sure all work is put in their agenda and book bag as looking for homework takes time away from learning. (see contract)
3 blue tickets = 1 white ticket
3 or more white tickets = parent meeting with teacher and principal (a note will be sent home)
All classwork is expected to be completed in class. Any work not completed in the time given will be graded as is.
All morning work is included in the math grade. If your child comes tardy, they may not have enough time to complete the assignment. This assignment will be graded as is and could affect the math grade. (see contract)
Graded papers in reading will be sent home in the orange folder. Graded papers in math will be sent home in the purple folder. Science and social studies papers will be sent home in the green folder.
All papers under 77% are to be corrected, signed by a parent, and returned in the folder. If the redos are not returned, students will get a blue ticket. (see contract)
Students will be assigned Social Studies and Science projects. Late projects will not be accepted. (see contract)
You may call and set up an appointment. You may also leave a voice mail on the teacher phone.
If your child will be absent please call the school by 8:15 (535-5010 ext. 62157) A note MUST be sent when returning to school. When you call you can let the clerk know where to send any homework. It is very important for homework to be picked up when absent so the children do not fall behind.
